Cynthia Nelson is currently the Assistant Aquatic Director of a YMCA and a Head Swim Coach of a 115 member age group swim team in Northern NJ. She has a 15 year competitive swimming career as a swimmer for a USA Swim Team on Long Island, and was a 4 year varsity swimmer at Drew University in Madison, NJ. She has 2 years competitive coaching experience as an assistant coach at Bucknell University, a Division I school in Pennsylvania and was a coach for the 2001 Stanford International Swim Camp in California. She teaches lessons daily at the YMCA for children ages 4 and up.
She began her teaching career at the age of 15 with a small developmental swimming group on LI and then went on to teach at summer camps, and swim schools in LI, NJ and Pennsylvania. Teaching is part of her life and it shows!
She loves children and is patient, kind and friendly. Creativity is a big part of the way she teaches and she allows the children to explore the fun and exciting aspects of swimming.
